Week 13: Lesson plans

Amelia and her parters project was very intersting. I loved where they had us to go to the websites and draw that specific animal that appeared, and lable its certian parts. I thought that would have been very fun for kids. Hay, I thought it was very insterating and fun, even though the goat that I was suppost to be drawing look like more of an elephant. When I learn, I am more of a visual, and phyical type of learner. If i was still in school i would of enjoyed this class.

Brittany and Gabs presentation was very insterating. Yes it was for younger kids, but I found it very imformitave. I thought that it was very cleaver that they found a cartoon to help explain the lesson. When I was a small kid, I used to watch the Antaticacks, which is the name of the cartoon. I think they really got on an even playing feild with the kids. The kids would probably think its fun and they won't be seeing that they are learning. Hay, the little kid, that one of our classmates brought to class really liked it.

In ealley and wealsey presentation would have been a very good ground breaker for kids on their first day of school. It would have helped the teacher to get to know there students, ... and for the students it would have been a good way to get the kids to relax. Its just a shame that we have already done that one this year, but it was still insterating

I really did liked carmen and tanners lesson. It would very unique. I would have never though of making the questions, kind-of like a scaverager hunt. I thought that was just a brillant idea. Even though i have never read that book i learn enough that i got a ok grasp on the subject matter.

On arron and his partners presentation, I agree that it would be hard to incorprate ag. anspeciel ed. into the same lesson plan. A few ideas and to have the teacher to take the kids on a feild trip, and let them look at the animals themselves. I liked how they asked the class for comments, and/or ideas.

Week 12: Voice Thread

After viewing the link to voice thread, i thought it was pretty cool. When I become a teacher i will probably use it in my lesson plan then, but i do not known if i am going to use it in the lesson plan that we are going to present to the class. My partner and i haven't really discussed about using it.

week 10: Desktop Publishing

I loved Desktop Publishing. I just wished that we spent more time on it, because it was something that I havn't worked with much. A problem that i had was that,.... i didn't have the program at my house so i wasn't able to work on it, as much as i usually do.

The way that i felt about the brochure this week was....I felt a little bit rushed. To me, this assignment was harder than the powerpoint....But that could be b/c we had two week on the Powerpoint.

The only muddy part was when I trying to get stuff to appear right, b/c the tools are in different locations than in word.

As i have said I loved Desktop Publishing. You can create all sorts of stuff with it, for example bussiness cards. Something that i would create for my future classroom would be a little magizeing type syllabuse thing. This thing would give them a peak of what we were going to do this year, and little example of it. Also it would have my comference time, and different places to go on the web if the student was having trouble; also it would all of the other teachers. I would do this b/c it would be very helpful to the student, and probably interesting with all of the pictures.

Week 7: Questions

How far should educators go in matching the technology used in instruction and classroom activities to the technology their students use? I think it is important for teachers to encourage their students to use different kinds of technology. I think the teachers should let the kids explore the different the program for a while, then the teacher should teach them the proper way to use that certain program. Also if the kid wanted to learn more, i think the teacher should also provide other material, for the student to look at outside of the classroom, because that when real learning comes into play.

Are online chats and instant messaging of value in the classroom? Do they add to student learning, or do they distract from “real” instruction? Yes, I do agree that online chats and instant messaging is a value to the class, because you can ask the teacher questions if your confused or say that you missed a day. But on the other hand they can be a distraction, because the students could chat about anything...To me it's another way to text message, but not using a phone.

Are there benefits to asynchronous, text-based communication over synchronous, face-to-face communication? In what situations? Some students, like myself get distracted when there is more than one thing going on at the time. Using text-based communication has some pretty good benifits, like having the classroom quite, so everyone else can considtrate. Sometimes it can help during project, but it just depends on the person that you are. Some people are more visual than other, and for those people it would probably wouldn't help as much....It would be more of a nusicence.

Does using podcasts with students really enhance learning, or is it simply a newer version of passively delivering information?Using podcasts can enhance learning, even though it is just a newer version of passively delivering information. Podcasts is accesible to everyone. Podcast are just short explanations of material which the student can watch quickly and learn what they need to.

Does videogame help develop your studying? Why or why not? Explain. What skills can you gain from it? Do you agree with the article? If you have children, would you let them play videogame every day? Why/why not? I have played videogames, and in a way i can see them helping on developing studying skills, like the ability to concentrate, but they can also be a distraction. Every activity a person participates in they learn certain skills. When people play videogames, they developed better hand-to eye coordination, problem solving and strategy skills. I would let my kids play veido games, but probably not every day because there is more stuff out there. I don't want them to become obsessed with video games, and i want them to experance different things.

Delicious

Tell me how you feel about delicious site and what you think about it. Will you use it? Why/why not?

I think that it is pretty alsome, I didnt't think having favorites like that. I don't think that i would use it b/c it is a little bit more trouble, instead of going to the left cornor of this page and clicking the star. But i can also see how it can help if you not at your own personal computer.

Week 5

I think that Wikis a very usful tool. I might use it in the classroom; the reason that i say i might is because someone could accuidental make a mistake on the information...and that mistake would be past on.

I know that learning by conversing is more effective than traditional learning. I say this because I am speaking for personal experance; students tend to zone out when they are told something. When students get to the chance to interact, they ge more involved in the topic, hence learning more. Also by using conversing in the classroom, the teacher will be able to tell if the students are getting, what you are teaching, and you won't have to find that out when the test grades come in. I, myself have seen that by conversing in the classroom is more effective that traditional instruction. Again speaking from personal experence, I have observed the differences in two classrooms where one teacher is doing the traditional teaching and the other leaning more toward conversation in the classroom. The students are more interactive, and are pertistingpating more; where the other class the students are just taking notes, and are as silent as the grave....not asking question, just sitting there.

Yes i do beleive that students have different learning styles because everyones different. On the personality test it said that i was a care giver, and that is quite accuate, but I don't know that if it would help in knowing my students better. I say this because I do not know if the students would accuately take the test. But if they did i can see how that could help me, it would help me get to know my students better...the student that's under the shell, not the one they want everyone else to believe they are. I say this because everyone has some sort of shell, and getting under the shell is the trick part.
